"Evergreen" Original Painting
Evergreen: retaining freshness or interest / universally and continually relevant / perennial
Macritchie Reservoir is an evergreen favourite in many ways. It is Singapore’s first water supply system, constructed in the 1860s. It has evolved into a site that is brimming with life today. It is a well-loved spot for nature lovers, a place of calm and healing for those in need of rest and reprieve. In an urban jungle bursting with skyscrapers and all the signs of overwhelming modern technology, this place represents a piece of old Singapore, a time when it was an untouched piece of land. Through the creation of this artwork, I sought to capture its timeless quality as a site that has stayed constant throughout the passing of time. Every visit promises surprises, adventure and discoveries within nature and the self. It is wild, lush, calming all at once; that is the magic of nature.
